The AUA Research Forum, “Showcasing Young Investigators,” is scheduled for Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the Georgia World Congress Center, Room A 305. The program features posters and podium presentations from top young investigators nominated by the AUA Sections and Specialty Societies. Hsi-Yang Wu, MD, a 2011-2012 Recipient of the SPU Research Grant Award, will be presenting his research, “Maturation of Bladder-External Urethral Sphincter Coordination”. Registration for the Research Forum is FREE.

| Dr. Laurence Baskin, SPU President-Elect, to Receive 2012 AUA Foundation John W. Duckett, MD Pediatric Urology Research Excellence Award |
Laurence Baskin, MD, from the University of California, San Francisco, has been selected to receive the AUA Foundation’s 2012 John W. Duckett, MD Pediatric Urology Research Excellence Award, an annual award honoring a researcher who has contributed outstanding research and work in the field of pediatric urology and for enhancing the treatment of children suffering with urologic conditions and improving their quality of life. Congratulations! The award will be presented at the AUA Foundation Scholar Awards Breakfast in Atlanta.
| SPU Member Dr. Anthony Atala to Receive AUA Award in 2012 |
The AUA recently announced that Dr. Anthony Atala will receive the Ramon Guiteras Award in 2012 and will be honored at the AUA Annual Meeting this May in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Ramon Guiteras Award is presented annually to an individual who is deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the art and science of urology. Anthony Atala, MD, will receive this award for pioneering research in regenerative medicine and outstanding contributions to the field of urology as a scholar and teacher.
