MEMBERSHIP IN THE SOCIETY FOR PEDIATRIC UROLOGY
Individuals who have a significant interest in pediatric urology may apply for membership in the Society for Pediatric Urology (SPU).
CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP
Active Members are urologists who practice more than 50% pediatric urology. Active members must belong to either the American Urological Association or the Royal College of Surgeons and must take the Pediatric Urology In-Service Exam within 2 years of application. A full CV and list of publications is required. Applicants for Active Membership must be sponsored by an SPU Active or Senior Member and must also be endorsed by two Active or Senior SPU Members. Applicants must also submit a completed Operative Log.
Affiliate Members are those who are not pediatric urologists but have contributed to the field of pediatric urology.
Corresponding Members are pediatric urologists who do not qualify as Active members. Corresponding membership brings all the privileges of Active membership for pediatric urologists who do not belong to either the AUA or the Royal College of Surgeons.
Senior Members are Active Members and Fellows who have attained the age of 65 and have asked for a transfer to Senior status.
Honorary Members are selected by the membership of the SPU.
Candidate Members are those urologists currently enrolled in an accredited Pediatric Urology Training Program, or who have recently completed a Pediatric Urology Fellowship or Training Program and are board eligible in Urology.
